Christopher Hitchens

Since I serve on the Editorial Board of Midwest Quarterly
I read a lot of essays/articles submitted to the journal.

Recently we got an essay called:

"God loves you, Christopher Hitchens"

Now that Hitchens is dead (completely, irrevocably, inoffensively dead)
all sorts of religious types are coming out of the woodwork in order to
kick the corpse and piss on his dead body. Here is my response to one:

"I guess this essay proves, if it needed to be proven, that it is
sometimes better to be a live dog than a dead lion. This essay
gives us the spectacle of a Christian dog urinating on the corpse of the dead
Atheistic Beast (sans 666).

"It is rather sad and pathetic, that such dogged (or as the author
might say, doggerel) creatures can approach the great carnivore, safe
in the knowledge that now He can no longer roar, much less bite.

"Aside from a bit of wordplay (overused and not particularly clever)
this essay has nothing to recommend it. The author's prose is
a one-trick circus pony dragging itself in a circle, its withered cock
dragging in the dust."
