It's been very educational for me because I've spent
much of my life trying to make sure people get what they want when they meet me,
and especially if they want me to sign my book. I've always been afraid of
saying “No way, Jose!” to people –
mainly because I don't want them to dislike me. It's been a revelation to learn
that, when you say “No!” to people,
they're really very, very disappointed; and they often come to dislike you….
Imagine that. It just mystifies me.
