“Getting married is like buying a house. It is like
a post-modern, pre-conscious decision... a home-buyers’ mostly full-disclosure
kind of thing. What I was so interested in doing in inspecting this whole top
story of my relationship was making sure that we were living in as much of a Delusion-Free
Zone as possible.
“Having cultivated and spread delusion for so much
of my romantic life, this was a real change for me. Because the fantasy was so
much more exciting and glamorous and thrilling than the truth, I was able to sell
him a trashy dump with a weak foundation. Go figure!”
