Ms. Dominique on the Writer’s (spiritual) Life
“I am now ethically & spiritually devoted to a life
of writing Fiction (not Poetry—which requires a life of devoted to sex and massive amounts of drugs &
alcohol), which reminds me of that time I went to a Ladies’ Catholic Vocational Support Group meeting. It’s kind of
like the Women Aglow meetings, except
for young-ish single women. There they told us about how we could dedicate ourselves
to God by becoming ‘Brides of Christ.’ This really appealed to my nun-ish side.
“There was a slide show with all this odd religious stuff
about the ‘Perpetual Virginity’ of Mary. Then this old priest came in, and he claimed
he was a ‘Bride of Christ’ too—which really threw me for a loop. I guess this
is one of those ‘Mysteries of the Church’ they don’t usually talk about in Sunday School.”
